Friedwart Bruckhaus Awards (submission deadline February 28, 2026)
The new competition for the Friedwart Bruckhaus Awards 2025/2026 has been announced on behalf of Managing Director Barbara Frenz and the jury. The theme is “Undesirable developments in the housing market – between market and government failure?” Prizes will be awarded for academic and journalistic work on this topic.
The jury is looking for innovative work that analyzes the causes of these undesirable developments and develops practical solutions. How can policymakers intervene in a regulatory manner without crippling the market? What new housing concepts and technologies could help alleviate the situation? The aim is to identify concrete ways to overcome market and government failures and make the German housing market sustainable in the long term.
Young researchers and media professionals are invited to submit their work. The competition is open to:
- Researchers who have conducted remarkable research on the competition topic, and
- Media professionals whose contributions have distinguished themselves through generally understandable presentations of scientific findings and practical experience.
Up to three prizes of €5,000 each are planned, which can be divided.
An independent jury will decide on the awarding of the prizes: https://schleyer-stiftung.de/preise/friedwart-bruckhaus-foerderpreis/jury/.
The selection will take into account current work published in German or English. Applicants should not have reached the age of 40 by the application deadline.
The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2026.
